WHAT HAPPENS TO MY UNSOLD ITEMS?

Any items that do not sell, consignors may take back.  If you do not want to take back your items, THEKIDSKLOSET will donate them to a charity of their choice. All items not picked up by the designated time will be donated.

HOW DO I BECOME A CONSIGNOR?

In order to consign, you need to register.  You can do that on the Consignor Registration page of this website. You will receive your consigner number and can begin entering and tagging your items with our internet based program. A complete sellers kit will be sent to you with all the details.

WHY IS THERE AN $8 REGISTRATION FEE?

Putting on the event is very expensive. Your registration fee helps with some of the cost of the location rental, advertising, insurance, display racks, supplies, paid staff and more. This will be deducted from your proceeds.

HOW DO I TAG MY ITEMS?

Once you have received your Consignor #, you can begin tagging your items through the website. You can do this at your convenience at any time of the day or night.  You will receive detailed information upon registration telling you how to tag, hang, tape, etc. your items before bringing them to the sale.  Here are the main points to remember:

  •  All clothing must be washed and hung on hangers and sorted by size and gender before coming to the sale.

  • All toys requiring batteries must have batteries (we will check them at your drop-off appointment.
  • Any items that plug in will be checked at drop-off.
  • Each item must have a tag attached to it created through our software program and printed on white 60-67# cardstock paper. This is available at most office supply stores such as Staples, Office Max for $8.00 for 250 sheets which will yield over 1500 labels.  You will enter your items into the computer and print out bar-coded tags at home.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE TIME TO ENTER AND TAG MY ITEMS?

We understand that life can be crazy sometimes so we have on staff, merchandise coordinators who can perform the merchandise prep for you. Simply call us to set up an appointment. We will pick up your items, enter them online, prepare them for sale and your good to go.

For this service, we charge an additional 30% of the total sold items plus a $30 materials fee. So if you start out with 60% and utilize this service, you would get paid 30% of the total sales. You can always volunteer to increase your percentages up to 45%

NOTE:  Please make your appointment early. This service has a limited number of appointments and no appointments are made the 3 weeks prior to the sale.

WHO SETS THE PRICES?

Each consignor chooses how they want to price their items.  We recommend pricing your items 30-50% of original retail.  That being said, the lower you price your items, the better they will sell.   You should think about what you would pay for the items if you were buying them. The minimum price you can set is $1.00 and all prices must be in increments of whole dollars..$1.00 $2.00, $3.00, $4.00, etc. There is no maximum price limit. When you register, you will receive a SELLERS INSTRUCTION KIT via email (or snail mail if you prefer) that will provide you with all the details you need to prepare your items for sale

At the sale, there is no negotiating the prices - the price on your tag is what it will be sold for.  However, the last day of the sale is the 50% off sale day. It is up to you as the consignor to decide if you would like your items to be discounted on that day.  When making your product tags online, you may choose which, if any, items you would like to be discounted.

WHEN DO I BRING MY ITEMS TO THE SALE?

Upon registering, you will also be sent instructions on how to sign up for a drop-off appointment to bring your items to the sale.  Drop-off is typically several days and evenings during the week preceeding the sale.  Drop-off should only take you about 20-30 minutes depending on the number of items and how well you followed the merchandise prep instructions.  We will inspect all the items you bring to make sure there aren't any stains, rips, tears, and that all items are working. Please do not be offended if we refuse and item. Our goal is to provide quality items and ensure success and profits for our consigners. Once your items are checked in, you will be required to place all clothing items on the sales floor in their appropriate location based on gender/size We will place all other items.

WHAT OTHER CONSIGNOR BENEFITS ARE THERE?

As a consignor, you get to shop the private pre-sale!!!!  The pre-sale is the evening before the public sale so you will get first pick of the merchandise and get free chances for raffle prizes. And every consignor can bring 1 friend or family member with them. (children do not count so you can bring them too)

WHAT HAPPENS TO UNSOLD ITEMS?

You must pick up any unsold items at the designated time in your consignment agreement after the sale is over.   If you do not want to or are not able to pick up your items on this evening, your items will be donated for you.  You must decide to donate or not to donate each item when making your product tags online.  THE KIDS KLOSET donates to multiple charities of their choice at the end of the sale and also has a donation sale where families in need can shop the donations after the event's public sale conclusion. We partner with churches, schools and organizations in the surrounding communities to identify those that could benefit from this offering.

WHEN DO I GET PAID?

Through the state-of-the-art online tagging program, you will be able to see which of your items sold each night after the sale is over.  Consignor checks are mailed to you within 3 days of the close of the sale or you can pick them up.
